Civil Service To Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation
Eddie has been involved in local radio and community affairs for over a decade.
Eddie Winship worked for 30 years in the Civil Service, finishing up as an Assistant Manager in a Benefits Office. During a large part of this time he also worked in the field of Community Education, being involved in the planning, preparing and presenting of training courses for Youth & Community Workers as a Training Supervisor. On leaving the Civil Service he worked in residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation in Germany and Scotland, the latter as Assistant Project Leader in a rehab for mothers together with their children, gaining an SVQ in Residential Care.

Singing Cowboy with a Wild West Show
After 13 years of this, he moved to the USA where he worked for a year as a singing cowboy with a Wild West Show!
On returning to the UK, Eddie worked with adults with learning disabilities in a residential situation before “retiring” and beginning life on radio.

BBC Radio Berkshire and Reading 107
After a year working on the Community Action Desk at BBC Radio Berkshire, Eddie then moved to Reading 107 where he worked for 3 years as a Community Reporter.
Reading Community Radio and Reading4U
His next step was to found Reading Community Radio which morphed into Reading4U and he started to present Community Matters, a programme with the aim of giving a voice to groups, organisations and individuals working together for the common good in Reading.
During this period Eddie gained an NVQ in Community Development., both UK and American and he has been a part-time musician for over 50 years, singing and playing guitar for adults and children.
Apart from radio, the other big love in Eddie’s life is music – primarily folk
